Museum of the oldest appellation in the world, dedicated to the oldest Appellated and Regulated World Wine Region, has the mission of sharing with the public the precious documentary and artistic heritage, collected and preserved for more than 260 years. Establishing itself as an institutional identity, the Museum intends to promote and disseminate the history and culture of Port Wine, for which the Real Companhia Velha played a decisive role between 1756 and 1834.

Classified as property of public interest, Villar d'Allen is a rare survivor of the recreation farms that in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries surrounded the city of Porto. Property of João Allen, an English businessman, it features a building of eclectic architecture, typical of the Romantic period of the nineteenth century. In addition to a large collection of camellias, Villar d'Allen also has a formal garden "à la française", and the 'parterre' born of the enthusiasm for "landscape" gardens in fashion in England. The romantic nature was accentuated with the enlargement of the gardens, creating lakes, streams and artificial waterfalls and a wide variety of exotic plants. It also features sculptures by Nasoni. It is now a plant nursery of outdoor ornamental plants. In addition to guided tours, Villar d'Allen also organizes family, cultural or business events.

Founded in 1859 by António Alves Cálem, Porto Cálem was owned by the same family for four generations before passing into the hands of Sogevinus SGPS, S.A in 1998. A visit to Cálem begins with the museum and then moves on to the cellars where, at a multimedia point inside a pressing vat, the visitor is offered an overview of the oldest demarcated region in the world - the Douro Demarcated Region. The entire process of producing port wine from harvesting to bottling and ageing is also explained. The visit ends with a tasting of two types of wine and the chance to browse through our shop which offers a quality selection of Cálem port wines.

The large ageing lodge at Cockburn's is the most extensive in the entire historic centre of Vila Nova de Gaia, housing 6.500 Port Wine Casks that age under its huge roof, being the only ones to have its own team of coopers. The Cockburn's Ports are carefully aged in oak casks and vats, and are accompanied by the tasters and oenology team until they reach their ideal maturity. The impressive scale of Cockburn's lodge allows to house a large amount of ageing Special Reserve, so it can develop its unique style and perfect balance, acquired by more time of ageing in wood than any other Reserve Port.

The Croft brand is one of the most distinguished of all Port houses. Founded in 1588, it is the oldest company still active today as a Port wine producer. The company is renowned above all for its Vintage Port wines as well as for its range of wood aged reserves and tawnies.

The building where the IVDP is settled was built in 1843 to house Banco Comercial do Porto, in neo-classical style and it was bought by the IVDP in 1933. IVDP's visitor centre offers a shop selling wines, a tasting room and a tour that takes visitors through the certification process for Port and Douro wines. Included in the Urban Wine Route.

W & J Graham's was founded in 1820 by two brothers, William and John Graham, and sold to the Symington family in 1970.
