The Information Management Library, also known as Knowledge Resources Centre for the Agro-food industry, has a specialized perspective, because the documental collection that constitutes it fits predominantly in the competence and investigation domains that characterize the mother institution: Bioengineering, Biosciences, Nursing and Health Technologies. Running in a free access regime, it is organised according to the Library Congress Classification (LCC), open to the Asprela community, as well as to the whole external community.

The Faculty of Sciences Library has 12 specialized reading rooms, fundamentally in the domains of exact sciences and natural sciences, as well as the technologies associated to them and the whole collection is catalogued. The Faculty also has a significant bibliographic and iconographic collection with works from the 16th century to the beginning of the 20th century, gathered in its Old Library Collection.

Founded in 1980, it holds the documentation produced by the municipality of Porto from the Middle Ages as well as various private archives and collections. Its collection includes numerous handwritten series, scrolls, illuminated manuscripts, drawings, photographs, etc. In compliment to this, it has an informative, auxiliary library with about 5,000 print publications and also collections of old postcards, prints, posters, etc., on Porto related issues. It is responsible for receiving, organising and creating tools for access to documentation, creating conditions for public access to documents and promoting the publication of its heritage and issues related to the city's history.

The Portuguese Centre for Photography is a free access public service, headquartered in the former Court of Appeal building. It was created in 1997 by the Ministry of Culture being presently under the tutelage of the General Direction of Archives. The powers assigned to it aim at the promotion and enhancement of photographic heritage, including the archive treatment and the management of the National Collection of Photography. The CPF develops as well an annual programme of temporary exhibitions, offers a permanent exhibit comprising a rare and valuable collection of photographic cameras, a specialized library providing as well as consultation and copying services, a shop, and a free service of guided tours to the building and to the exhibitions, subject to advance booking.

Reopened to the public in May 2013 in the Casa da Prelada, this archive stores the documentation collected by the Misericórdia in the exercise of its activity, regardless of support, format or date, and by extinct institutions that also belonged to it. In the reading rooms, the access to the information is obtained through a direct consultation of the documentation or scanned microfiche. This service counts with technical support. The Archive integrates a constantly growing library with free access , specialized above all in the following areas: History of The City of Porto; History of Arts.

Opened in 2001, and already its number of users has exceeded more than 1.75 million. This building by the architect José Manuel Soares, is located in the gardens of the Palácio de Cristal and is part of the National Public Reading Network. It is spread over 2 floors, occupys an area of 3500 m2 and is divided into three sections: Children and Youth, General Reading and Multimedia. It contains 90,000 monographs, 10,000 multimedia documents and 140 periodical publication series. Available services include home loans, catalogue search, watching films, listening to music, consultating paper documents and non-book material, copying documents, access for visually impaired readers, scanning documents and computer and Internet access. There are also decentralized services to the community, through the Mobile Library (the Librarycar) and SABE - the Support Service for School Libraries. In 2010 it was integrated into the Network of Associated Libraries of UNESCO.
